Launching
Launching a coin
How a launch works, from the form to the first trades, and what the master pays.
What happens when you press Launch
- A dev wallet is madeA brand-new wallet just for this coin, funded from your master.
- The coin's details go upThe picture, name, ticker, description and links are uploaded to pump.fun's storage. Nothing is sent to the chain until this worked.
- The master funds the launchOne transaction sends SOL to the dev wallet and to each buying wallet.
- The coin is createdThe dev wallet creates the coin on pump.fun and makes its dev buy in the same transaction.
- Your wallets buyEach buying wallet buys, on the timing you chose. See Wallet buys and timing.
The form
- Picture: PNG, JPG, GIF or WEBP, up to 4 MB.
- Name up to 32 characters and Ticker up to 10 (emoji count as several).
- Description and links (X, Telegram, website): optional.
- Dev buy: what the dev wallet buys at creation. Pick None, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, 1 or 2 SOL, or type an amount.
What the master pays
The cost box adds it up before you launch:
- The dev buy, and the SOL for every wallet buy.
- pump.fun's cost to create a coin and the network fees.
- For Same block, the Jito tip, paid only by a bundle that lands.
- The site's launch fee: 1% of the SOL the launch puts in. See Fees.
- About 0.01 SOL kept in each wallet so it can sell later.
Dry run
Dry run builds every transaction of the launch and tests it with pump.fun, then reports what would happen and what it would cost, without sending anything and without spending anything. Use it whenever you change the setup.
After the launch
You land on the coin's own page, with its post-launch tools: every wallet's coins, selling, the NUKE button, live trades and your rules. See Buying and selling.
If a launch stops halfway
Nothing is sent before the upload worked. If the launch stops after the master funded it, the SOL stays in the dev and buying wallets, where you can send it back to the master.
